About

James Stenella
Founder, Stenella Auctions

James Stenella’s enduring passion for the auction business is reflected in his extensive experience and commitment. After a two-year apprenticeship under Paul Deristine, where he refined his skills through biweekly estate sales and learned the intricacies of the industry, James graduated from Reisch’s World Wide College of Auctioneering in 1983. He became licensed and bonded in Pennsylvania, marking the start of his distinguished career in auctions.

Initially, James focused on monthly auctions, handling a diverse array of items including estate goods, collectibles, art, rugs, coins, and silver. In 1992, his son, James Stenella Jr., joined him as an apprentice and soon earned his own license. Together, they expanded Stenella Auctions and founded Stenella Antiques, which became one of the largest antique furniture resellers in the region. Over the next 40 years, they ran a thriving business that combined online and live auctions with a fast-growing retail operation specializing in high-end preowned furniture and collectibles.

Today, Stenella Auctions continues to adapt to the evolving auction landscape. As the industry has shifted from predominantly in-person events to include online sales, James and his son maintain their commitment to excellence by carefully selecting collections that meet their high standards. Whether through online platforms or live auctions, Stenella Auctions is dedicated to delivering exceptional service and value to their clients.
